Yesterday was a long, but absolutely awesome day! I was at the 20th Annual Arabian & Half Arabian Youth National Championship Horse Show the entire day, from 8am until 10pm! I volunteered as a Gate Keeper and Judge’ Assistant from 8am-12pm. As you can imagine I took a ton of photos!
I’ll be going through them in the next couple days and sharing them here on my blog, but for now I have to share one of the highlights of my day that happened during the Freestyle Reining Class.
Have you ever heard of Side-Saddle Reining?
Do you think you could do this (sliding stops, spins, roll-backs, cantering, galloping, etc)?
In a skirt, sitting aside your horse?
Well, if you were impressed with that, just imagine competing in reining on a side saddle if you are a guy……a dude……a young man!
Yeah…sitting side-saddle and wearing a dress while cantering, galloping, and performing sliding stops and spins!
Bad photo, but you get the idea….
Well, that’s what this young man did (and won Grand Champion of his 14-17 yr old Freestyle Reining class!).
The judges love him, too. And he even got a standing ovation! He did an awesome job riding side saddle!!
And if that weren’t enough excitement, I lost count of the number of times he and his awesome horse, Navajo Joe, did fast spins in both directions, and beautiful sliding stops. I’m pretty sure he performed over 5 of them each!
They were obviously having the best time together and having so much fun!
They were the last performance of the evening and it was the perfect ending to an awesomely terrific day!
Those two were an amazing team!
