VDOT Visiting The Neighbors

To contact us Click HERE
Hello everyone.
Yesterday I told you that I would be putting up a picture-filled post. Guess who wanted to be the stars in today's pictures? VDOT! They just love to give me ammunition. These pictures are of VDOT "visiting" our neighbors. Our neighbors have two beautiful horses just on the other side of this mess. Our neighbors had to put up temporary fencing farther back which cut a large chunk out of the horses' pasture. The pasture fence used to extend to the road. There is also a pond back there. Lots of wildlife used that pond. You should have seen all of the beautiful waterbirds. VDOT will probably fill in the pond. That's what they did to the pond on the other side. So here are the pictures....

A view of the neighbor's property. Trees!

Another view. Remember the sign. You'll see it again.
VDOT worker starting to remove the horses' pasture fence.
Does this man even think about how HE is affecting other people's lives? Should he be the model for my new VDOT Voodoo Doll? Much better than a stress ball!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the property...
Poor horses' pasture.
Goodbye oxygen.
Even less oxygen.
The neighbors.
VDOT driving over their front yard.
Starting demolition on the other side of the horses' pasture.
This is where the fence used to be.
This is right beside the road. I wonder how many wild animals lost their homes from all this.
Removing it all.
Remember this sign from earlier? There was trees and brush behind it. Now...nothing.
A future VDOT bonfire to choke us out.
The pond is just on the other side of the remaining trees. I guess VDOT can only do so much destruction in one day.
Another view with the sign.
Note that the large tree which was once behind the mailbox is no longer there. We once saw a black bear cub climb and then fall out of that tree.
View across the other side of the pasture towards the bridge.

We woke up to the sounds of heavy machinery right outside. VDOT starts early. Feeling sick, we rushed to the windows to see VDOT doing this at our neighbors' house. My oldest daughter took the pictures. She took 60 total, but I couldn't put them all up. I think she did really well in evoking the feeling of devastation and destruction with her pictures. We are quite nervous about what next week will bring. Our trees lining the road will be next.

'Til next time.
